Mirror of the Past

A day will come when I can reflect on days of before
I wonder what kind of image I might see
Will I see the man of God I someday hope to be
Something that for a long time I've strived for
A man after God's heart, wanting more and more
I wonder what kind of image I might see

Perhaps I'll see a reflection of a scared little son
Hiding from the One who loves him the most
Pail faced in the corner as if he's seen a ghost
Something that I hope to never see or become
Afraid to show his face, to the world he's succumb
Hiding from the One who loves him the most

I certainly don't want to miss out on the very best
I will stay the course, laid before me to walk
With Jesus, my Savior, the strong and solid Rock
I can do it, I will make it, I will be blessed
Persevering through the times I am put to the test
I will stay the course, laid before me to walk

Keeping the path, I'll be happy with the finished man
I will gaze upon the mirror of the past and smile
I'll have come through every temptation; every trial
Refined and purified by the Father's gentle hand
Bringing to total completion His perfect eternal plan
The mirror of the past will bring to me a smile

Eyes of an Angel

If I had eyes of an angel. I wonder what I would see:
People in the bonds of sin, others flying high and free.
Some praying to the one God, the Father Almighty,
Others worshiping things that will be dust in eternity.

I'd imagine some wandering the land without hope.
All they need is Jesus, He's just not in their scope.
Focused on selfish desires pressing on up life's slope,
Saying all along, “I don't need help, I made this rope.”

I believe within this angel's heart I would see an ache,
A longing for those astray to no longer sleep but wake;
To open their eyes to Jesus and see what is at stake;
To give their life to Him, avoiding an eternal fiery lake.

Of course, there are those who make Jesus their Lord.
They're equipped to daily battle with a Spirited Sword.
Effectively pressing on, united together, in one accord,
Focused on the heavenly, it's what they drive toward.

I believe within this angel's heart I would see a song
Echoing in the heavens in a voice powerful and strong.
Rejoicing each time their example draws others along,
Reaching God's throne with their new resounding song.

The Throne

This throne illuminates glory
Shining illustrious like gold.
A truly amazing place to be--
A place the Most High is seated.
He sits in divine brilliance
Intimidated by its vastness.
Dare I approach this object of beauty--
A place of mercy and grace?

An image appears near the throne.
Who's that I see sitting to the right
Dressed like a priest--but different?
More impressive, more divine;
Clothed in perfect brilliant white.
A glow is all around the image.
This figure appears to be a man--
Then the man speaks...

“Please, do not fear my brother.
Come, approach the throne.
I have paid your debt;
You owe nothing. It's a gift.
Place your trust in Me,
I will never leave or forsake you.
Find the mercy and grace you need,
With confidence...come near.”

Standing in awe, I see Him--
The image is clearing in view.
It is...it is the Son of God
Calling me to His father's throne.
Dare I go, am I good enough?
I should not fear, He said.
Trust in Him, is all that's asked.
Ok, in faith with confidence I go.

Satisfied

Jesus, You are the only source of satisfaction
My refuge and strength, my eternal attraction
In righteousness I see You, the face of my Lord
The love You have for me can not be ignored
In turn I will live my whole life for You alone
Offering myself as a sacrifice before the throne
I lay down my wants before You at the cross
Anything I could do without You I count as loss
You are the hope that I stand firm and strong
I can never be taken from You, to You I belong
My spirit soars, Your love can not be denied
In You, my Jesus I'm forever perfectly satisfied

I Will Sing

In the morning with the sun shining bright
I will sing of Your strength and might
During the blackness of the night
I'll sing of Your love; how You hold me tight

You're there through failure and success
You are my strong and mighty fortress
The Rock in which I stand to confess
My love for You, I long to express

When troubling times come my way
You're my refuge; in You I will stay
Delivering me from evil without delay
A picture of perfect love You portray

Of Your greatness I will sing
Listen to my cry, my offering
Giving praise, my everything
Glory to the King of Kings
...to You I will sing
